A Boy Finds His Unique Path

karsten_tennis.jpgImagine a 7 year old boy hitting tennis balls on a wall for three hours - only stopping so as not to disturb the midday nap in the old folk's home next to the tennis court.

He wants to excel, he desires unlimited, superior performance.

The big names of that time were Swedish player Bjorn Borg and American players John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors.

During the next 12 years the boy plays a lot of tournaments, he never excels to the extent of his dreams, but occasionally shares the locker room with the biggest Danish talent of that time.

That guy grows to become the best Danish player in the past century.

The other boy, well, he is now a Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Karsten worked as the Danish player's Strength and Conditioning Coach from 2000 - 2007, during which time he has won two ATP tournaments.

Together with professors and Phd's like William Kraemer, Wladimir Issurin, Tudor Bompa, Michael Stone and Yuri Werkhoshansky, Karsten Jensen, MSc, belongs to a group of less than 10 people in the world who have created a unified periodization system.

His passion for strength and conditioning started in University.

He had a great track and field teacher, and sprinting intrigued him. He is naturally slow and was not very strong.

How do you get strong?

How do you create lightening speed?

Those were the questions Karsten wanted to answer.

He soon felt that "this is what I am supposed to do" and from the beginning, felt that he had something to contribute. His first jobs - while in university - involved world class athletes from triathlon and badminton.

The above listed  lifts by no mean make Karsten a world class athlete. However, his own training gives him the personal experience of the movements – a personal experience that improves his ability to teach any lifts/movements to the athletes client in front of him.

Strength coaches do not need to be world class athletes in order to work with world class and Olympic athletes – they need to be world class strength coaches.
- Karsten Jensen -

“In well over a decade of serious training with various coaches and trainers, I must say that I was not only delighted but also extremely surprised and impressed when I began working with Karsten. I've found the methods employed by Karsten to be like nothing I'd ever experienced before. His scientifically backed scope and depth of knowledge regarding every facet and detail of strength and conditioning, coupled with his genuine care of my well being and performance is, in my experience, completely unparalleled. Karsten is MILES ahead of any trainers I've ever worked with, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with him.”
